Functional diseases are those in which the gastrointestinal (GI) tract looks normal when examined but doesn’t function properly, while structural diseases are those where there is a structural abnormality that causes the dysfunction of the GI tract, for example haemorrhoids, colon polyps, cancer etc.
There are many factors that may contribute to GI inflammation and dysfunction, including:2
- Eating a diet low in fibre
- Not getting enough exercise
- Travelling or other changes in routine
- Eating large amounts of dairy products
- Stress
- Resisting the urge to have a bowel movement, possibly because of haemorrhoids
- Overusing anti-diarrheal medications that, over time, weaken the bowel muscle movements called motility
- Taking antacid medicines containing calcium or aluminium
- Taking certain medicines (especially antidepressants, iron pills and strong pain medicines such as narcotics)
- Pregnancy
coMra Therapy for Digestive Conditions
coMra therapy is an effective and powerful modality that can provide significant support in your healing journey when treating GI conditions.
coMra therapy combines low-level laser therapy (LLLT) with the healing radiances of colour, magnetism and (in the Delta) ultrasound to treat pain and many other conditions. Read our coMra 101 blog and How it Works: coMra therapy blog for more on how it works.

For pain and inflammation and recovery of the gut, apply Gastroenterology 9 daily until you see some improvement, and continue as needed. For overall support of the digestive symptom, apply Gastroenterology 6 for 2 weeks – this will support the main organs in the abdominal area and initiate the body’s inherent healing process.
Additional treatments that will support the healing process include Universal 3 (Blood) and Universal 5 (Nervous System). By supporting the circulatory system with the Universal 3 treatment, nutrients and oxygen will be more effectively transported around the body, blood vessels will be strengthened and the number of red blood cells will increase, thereby offering benefit to your whole body and healing process.
Emotional and mental stress are major contributing factors to gut and microbiome health, and thus by applying the Universal 5 treatment you provide support to your neuroendocrine system which will aid your body in dealing with the high levels of cortisol and adrenaline that result from continuous emotional stress.
Holistic Treatment

When it comes to dietary triggers, the common culprits are gluten, sugar (including excessive fruit), dairy and trans (unsaturated) fats. If these are currently part of your daily consumption, consider eliminating them (in conjunction to applying coMra therapy) to allow your body time to undergo the healing process.
Case Study

In March 2015 he began his first Gastroenterology 6 treatment cycle (20 days) with the coMra Delta. Significant improvements were noted, and a second treatment cycle was applied. The results were very good. The need for medication greatly decreased, from 5-6 pills per day during relapses to 2 per day, and the frequency of bowel movements reduced significantly. Since 2015, Miroslav has had no further relapses, pain or cramps and currently has no dietary restrictions, but avoids milk.
