coMra therapy has been helping thousands of people the world over treat chronic conditions of all types by boosting the energy of their cells. But is there scientific evidence to support this technology? In this article we take a deep dive into the science behind coMra and how laser, magnetism, ultrasound and coloured light combine to provide a non-invasive treatment for so many conditions.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and Magnetic-Infrared Laser Therapy (MIL-Therapy)
Both LLLT and MIL-Therapy have been used for the last 30 to 40 years with great success for a wide range of concerns. Scientific evidence has shown that it is possible to enhance function and rescue cells and organs experiencing energy deficits due to hypoxia or elevated load using these therapies.
Both in vitro and in vivo experiments conducted as far back as the 1980s, demonstrate a 200-300% energy status increase in cells that are exposed to specific levels of infrared light.1 Furthermore, a weak magnetic field also influences cellular metabolism and ATP synthesis. In the 1970s, a combination of these two radiances was born as MIL-Therapy, and over 40 years of clinical experiences in Russia have confirmed the advantages of this combination.2
Neuromodulation with Colour Light
A key factor in the body’s adequate immune response is the availability of sufficient energy reserves in the cells. The central nervous system can take control of energy distribution in certain circumstances, such as the perception of imminent (imaginary or real) danger. Thus, acute stress, anxiety and sleeping issues may drain up to 30% of the energy stores available in a healthy individual.3
Phototherapy using coloured light is able to modulate the nervous system and therefore aids in improving the immune functional reserve. Studies over the last several years have demonstrated particular effects of the following colours on the body4:
- Red stimulates the sympathetic nervous system (“fight or flight” response)
- Indigo/Blue activates the parasympathetic nervous system (“rest and digest” response)
- Yellow/Green promotes physiological balance
Furthermore, the ability to register colour light and to act accordingly occurs not only via visual pathways but is in fact an inherent property of cellular intelligence.
Although the LED colour light is not coherent in itself, it is the sequence of colours which creates a cohering universal message that is applicable to regenerative or rejuvenative processes, regardless of the actual stage of the healing process in the site of wound/ injury.5
Enhancing Enzyme Efficiency with Low-level Ultrasound
Besides the energy and regulatory aspects of functional reserve, which the infrared laser, magnetic field and colour LEDs address, the transport and synthesis of proteins is another important component. By using low frequency and low intensity ultrasound it is possible to enhance transport and enzyme efficiency without interfering with the actual regulation of cellular metabolism.6
In Summary
In coMra therapy the synergetic approach of combined radiances enhances the effect of each individual radiance. In summary:7
- Infrared laser plays the leading role in enhancing energy metabolism, while magnetic field and ultrasound are in supportive positions by sustaining the state of quantum coherence and enhancing enzymatic efficiency;
- Ultrasound induces coherent mechanical vibrations that increase the speed of molecular transport and enzyme efficiency, while energetic stimuli by other radiances supply necessary energy for processes of protein synthesis and active membrane transport;
- Colour LEDs deliver a regenerative or rejuvenative message, and the other radiances support additional cellular processes initiated in response to these messages.
